A slightly quieter summer gave me time to redesign the locking removable bolt plate: addressing issues that came up in the slow pull tests.
It’s now up to prototype 3 and has added material where it failed last time, yet is 4 grams lighter.
I’ll pull test the new form and also trial some pivot pin variations to see if it can better the 12kN the last version achieved.
As with all design and testing the more you do the better you understand the design and how the stresses are conducted through the form.
Steve Morris from Rock Hardware is going to help with a drop test so it’ll be interesting to see how this compares to the slow pull test.
Slow but progress none-the-less! All being well we’ll have them on the market this year.
