There have been some great tips from an aid climbing expert in the comments on a recent post. Very handy application of bungee cord to set opposing hooks for a couple of situations. As I dug out some bungee cord to add to my aid rack I remembered my favourite bungee cord knot: the anglers loop. It’s a knot that won’t creep out with the elastic movement in the cord. It’s an old knot originally for gut fishing lines but has found a new use in bungee cord. I found the knot in The Rigging Handbook by Brion Toss (sailing rigging). I get my knot terminology (bights and loops) mixed up a bit in the clip but you can see what I mean. Here’s how to tie it:
